وَالَّيۡلِ اِذَا يَغۡشٰىۙ‏ ﴿۱﴾

By the night enshrouding ﴾1﴿

وَالنَّهَارِ اِذَا تَجَلّٰىۙ‏ ﴿۲﴾

And the day resplendent ﴾2﴿

وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالۡاُنۡثٰٓىۙ‏ ﴿۳﴾

And Him Who hath created male and female, ﴾3﴿

اِنَّ سَعۡيَكُمۡ لَشَتّٰىؕ‏ ﴿۴﴾

Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). ﴾4﴿

فَاَمَّا مَنۡ اَعۡطٰى وَاتَّقٰىۙ‏ ﴿۵﴾

As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) ﴾5﴿

وَصَدَّقَ بِالۡحُسۡنٰىۙ‏ ﴿۶﴾

And believeth in goodness; ﴾6﴿

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهٗ لِلۡيُسۡرٰىؕ‏ ﴿۷﴾

Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. ﴾7﴿

وَاَمَّا مَنۡۢ بَخِلَ وَاسۡتَغۡنٰىۙ‏ ﴿۸﴾

But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, ﴾8﴿

وَكَذَّبَ بِالۡحُسۡنٰىۙ‏ ﴿۹﴾

And disbelieveth in goodness; ﴾9﴿

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهٗ لِلۡعُسۡرٰىؕ‏ ﴿۱۰﴾

Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. ﴾10﴿

وَمَا يُغۡنِىۡ عَنۡهُ مَالُهٗۤ اِذَا تَرَدّٰىؕ‏ ﴿۱۱﴾

His riches will not save him when he perisheth. ﴾11﴿

اِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا لَـلۡهُدٰىۖ‏ ﴿۱۲﴾

Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance ﴾12﴿

وَاِنَّ لَـنَا لَـلۡاٰخِرَةَ وَالۡاُوۡلٰى‏ ﴿۱۳﴾

And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. ﴾13﴿

فَاَنۡذَرۡتُكُمۡ نَارًا تَلَظّٰى‌ۚ‏ ﴿۱۴﴾

Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire ﴾14﴿

لَا يَصۡلٰٮهَاۤ اِلَّا الۡاَشۡقَىۙ‏ ﴿۱۵﴾

Which only the most wretched must endure, ﴾15﴿

الَّذِىۡ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّٰىؕ‏ ﴿۱۶﴾

He who denieth and turneth away. ﴾16﴿

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الۡاَتۡقَىۙ‏ ﴿۱۷﴾

Far removed from it will be the righteous ﴾17﴿

الَّذِىۡ يُؤۡتِىۡ مَالَهٗ يَتَزَكّٰى‌ۚ‏ ﴿۱۸﴾

Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). ﴾18﴿

وَمَا لِاَحَدٍ عِنۡدَهٗ مِنۡ نِّعۡمَةٍ تُجۡزٰٓىۙ‏ ﴿۱۹﴾

And none hath with him any favour for reward, ﴾19﴿

اِلَّا ابۡتِغَآءَ وَجۡهِ رَبِّهِ الۡاَعۡلٰى‌ۚ‏ ﴿۲۰﴾

Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. ﴾20﴿

وَلَسَوۡفَ يَرۡضٰى‏ ﴿۲۱﴾

He verily will be content. ﴾21﴿
